This is the course website for History 202-01 at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. The course surveys U.S. history from the after-math of the Civil War to the present, with some background on earlier US history. Both traditional print materials and online World Wide Web history resources will be utilized. Significance is placed on political, social, cultural and economic trends and events that have molded and characterized America as a modern nation and world power.
Emphasis will be given to developing the ability to interpret fundamental issues in U.S. history. Students will be encouraged to think critically about American history and to examine and analyze historical sources of information.
This course meets the U.S. History part of the U.S. History and Institutions requirement for graduation at Cal Poly Pomona.
